Lewis Hamilton took his first victory of the 2009 season at Hungarian GP after pole sitter Renault's Fernando Alonso made an early pit stop on Sunday. It is his first victory since October last year. Hamilton really completed a remarkable turnaround for McLaren by dominating the race ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen. Raikkonen's second place was a big boost for Ferrari who had gone into the race with only one driver following Felipe Massa's high-speed crash in qualifying, which resulted in the Brazilian undergoing emergency surgery in Hungary.




Red Bull's Mark Webber was third with Brawn's Jenson Button down in seventh.

McLaren MP4-24 is Vodafone McLaren Mercedes' F1 car for the 2009 F1 season. MP4-24 has proved slower than its rivals due to aerodynamic problems, with McLaren drivers Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen repeatedly at the bottom of the timesheets up to the 2009 fourth race.

McLaren Mercedes are on the mend after throwing everything they have into making their troubled MP4-24 go faster and keeping Lewis Hamilton's title defence alive. Hamilton's fighting fourth place in Sunday's Bahrain F1 GP was proof that the policy is starting to pay off after a difficult start to the F1 season.

Since the beginning of the season, this 2008 Formula One (F1) World Champion had some problems with his MP4-24 besides the lie-gate scandal in Melbourne.

Lewis Hamilton is the youngest ever Formula One World Champion. He has stated that he wants to stay with the McLaren team for the rest of his F1 career.
